We had a doe come by for a visit today. This is her from our living room window. She was about 10 feet in front of me at this point. She was looking right at me and wagging her tail. She seemed a little nervous about me, but not too nervous. Look at all the deer flies and mosquitoes on her face. Poor thing. I wish they didn't have to be bothered by them so much. At one point she was sort of jumping around to get them off her.
We used to see a lot more deer around here, to the point where I was concerned about traffic accidents. Now it's much more unusual to see a deer like this one just hanging out in the yard. It was nice to see her. If you look at the second photo you can see her spots are still faintly visible, indicating that she's a new deer from this year's crop.
